About Us

Since there have been ships, there have been people who work them. In the past, our Local engaged in servicing the citrus market ships exclusively in the Port of Ft. Pierce. After the citrus trade transformed and expanded, we branched off into other commodities on conventional ships. Now, in the 21st century, we’re second to none in servicing the cruise ship industry in Port Canaveral, FL. Our eyes are set on what’s to come, and we’re working hard to build a better union for the future!

We believe in the strength of every worker to build a better future. Our mission is to create opportunities, promote fairness, and unite those who labor across the waterfront. Through education, solidarity, and civic engagement, we work together to uplift our members, their families, and the communities we serve.

Our Mission

The sole mission for this Local is to enhance the working opportunities of its members, affiliates, and friends and family of labor. We strive to better the lives of workers within our industry and those we organize to be a part of this great union. Through civic engagement and educational opportunities fostered between institutions, this Local will advance its objectives for the betterment of the union.

Objective & Purpose

The objectives of this Local Union are to unite within the Local all workers employed in the trades and industries under its jurisdiction; to improve their wages and hours of work; to increase job security; and to better the working and living conditions of its members; to establish and maintain collective bargaining; to promote the best interests of its members and their families; to secure and promote laws for the benefit of its members and labor generally; to promote welfare programs; and to instill the spirit of patriotism and devotion to country among its members, their families, and within the labor movement.
